The second-hand marketplace Users Express Anger Over Size Updates
Vinted users have been reacting angrily following a change that caused products showing incorrect sizing.
The second-hand shopping app has updated its size classifications for women's and children's clothes failing to inform all shoppers about the modification.
Digital Channels Backlash
Numerous buyers and vendors are expressing on platforms stating that platform listings now display an altered size classification versus the original listing because of the remapping.
The company said the new system was more in line with other platforms.
It has advised users to examine their items and manually change the size when needed, resulting in member annoyance.
Sizing System Updates
Previously, the measurements included a single numeric size and a letter, for instance S/8 or M/10.
The updated approach includes a letter with a size spectrum such as S/UK 8-10.
For certain items, the measurements have been reclassified - like an L measurement was formerly size 12 but is now a UK 16-18.
Member Experiences
One content creator, who creates plus-size fashion videos, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".
"Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," as the platform currently indicates.
A different member, from Glasgow, said garments she listed featuring size 14 markings were displaying on the service as larger sizing 20-22.
"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they're going to be very disappointed," she stated.
Manual Updates
Charlotte Lunn, based in Derby, said she had been left angered due to the update requiring manual adjustment the measurements for "each individual item".
"This situation is especially annoying, as I'm chronically ill and selling on Vinted has been paramount after experiencing income reduction," she said.
Service Background
The platform boasts over 100 million members, including 18 million in the UK.
It has emerged as a preferred choice to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.
This isn't the first time that an unexpected update to the app has proved unpopular: previously, Vinted reversed a change regarding delivery choices following member complaints.
