Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, new Dungeon Master Brennan Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with rich lore, a diverse cast of heroes, and a exciting storyline featuring angels, demons, and dark forces increasing in strength within Dol-Makjar.
Heads-up: Key plot points for Episode 3 of this adventure follow below.
The Warrior Group Revealed
The third episode finished on a dramatic pause and presented the premier party of adventurers who will branch out from the main group to undertake their separate journey, separate from the additional parties.
This warrior group consists of the determined fighter (brought to life by Travis), Thimble (the talented performer), Tyranny (Whitney Moore), the cleric (the player), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie Daymond).
Dividing the Cast
Given an extensive roster, it was clear from the outset that maintaining everyone at one table would be unworkable.
Hence, the opening chapters of Campaign 4 serve as an Prelude, connecting the individual narratives before branching into three distinct groups: Soldiers, Strategists, and Questers.
Characteristics of the Warrior Group
As described by the DM, the combat-focused party is for participants who prefer a classically intense battle-oriented story mode where non-violent answers are few and far between.
At first glance, figures such as the squeamish cleric Wicander Halovar might appear unsuited, but the actions of the latest installment demonstrate why these specific adventurers are perfectly fit for the warrior group.
Motivations for Departure
To begin with, the group has a clear idea where to proceed after a brutal first encounter with the antagonists.
An old friend of Thjazi—whose death kicked off the narrative’s action—exploited The Crow Keepers for his own means, entering Thjazi’s hideout, attacking the character, and swiping all the magical artifacts to dispose of.
Casimir then paid off his debts and fled to a fortified location in Gormalay, Timmony, above Dol-Makjar, with Cyd close behind.
Personal Motivations
Secondly, each character has a personal reason to exit the urban setting:
- The rogue, as the close ally and best friend, seeks revenge.
- The knowledgeable figure knows the region and warns that it is a hostile place.
- Tyranny and The healer, having disobeyed his relatives’ demands to kill Teor and instead rescued him, have nowhere else to go.
- Yet, their position as key figures in House Halovar could help the team reach places they normally couldn’t.
- Furthermore, The fighter pledged a life debt to The cleric for his deliverance and will now go with him everywhere.
Fugitives
Lastly, all of them are wanted by the powers that rule Dol-Makjar for a multiple motives, making staying in the city no longer safe:
- Thimble and The hero are known criminals.
- The warrior and The healer turned against the powerful family and the horde of evil beings they are partnered with.
- The fighter is targeted for elimination by House Halovar.
This leaves them no alternative but to travel to the northern region in pursuit of the antagonist.
Future Episodes
According to the recent installment’s follow-up content, we learn that the warrior group will be absent the following episode, leaving the other eight players to round up the Questers and Planners tables.
